1986 Casio CZ-3000 61-Key Vintage Phase Distortion Synthesizer
Released in 1986 and designed to take on the big guns (Yamaha, Roland, Korg), the CZ-3000 was a highly programmable and downright epic sounding synth that made use of a lesser-used form of synthesis at the time, that being phase distortion synthesis. Possessing a similar sound to FM synthesis, phase distortion is a distant cousin of FM in that it dynamically changes the harmonic content of a waveform within a time domain.
There's plenty of information online about phase distortion synthesis, but for now let's focus on how good this synthesizer is and how it offers a super cool angle on synthesis you may not have seen before! Complete with 61 full size keys, it has two oscillators per voice and has a host of programmable parameters such as wave form, pitch, wave, amp envelope, as well as assignable portamento/glide and a super sweet master chorus that can be dialed in with the swipe of a slider. If you don't want to get too deep on the programming side, it has 32 epic preset patches to keep you jamming for hours!
The unit is in super great condition and has just received a full service to ensure its functionality for years to come. All functions work perfectly and all notes sound true. Please note this unit is 100V so will require a stepdown transformer or a transformer tap mod.
