Bocote is best known for its majestic wood grain patterns in yellow, orange and dark brown colors with distinct black lines, but it is also known for its warm and deep sound much like rosewood. The rest of the Gold-OC6 Bocote remains the same with outstanding features like the ATV (Aged-to-Vintage) torrefied top, sonically enhanced UV finish, and Fishman® Flex Blend system, and with the introduction of the new Bocote option, our most popular Gold Series guitar is now more enticing than ever.

Aged to Vintage Top

A vintage instrument is the holy grail of acoustic guitar tone. The wood on the top cures and opens up more over time. This unleashes a tonal quality that is missing in new instruments – until now. Using a special process we call ATV (Aged To Vintage), we treat the solid sitka spruce top to give it that big and open tone of a decades-old, highly-sought-after acoustic. Most guitar makers simply bevel the frets at each end to eliminate the sharp edges. This process is highly complex and time-consuming and requires the skilled workmanship of experienced craftsmen. On the Gold, the Cort offers this enhancement typically reserved for much higher priced instruments.

Neck Profile

Cort has developed comfortable dimensions in neck thickness from the headstock to the heel to increase comfort in your hands and optimize playability. This process requires a shorter drying time and reduces chemical interaction between the finish and the woods, which is ideal for your instrument’s longevity. Due to the much shorter drying time and the lack of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) in the UV finish material, it is also an environmentally friendly process.
