1960s Silver Mellow Tone 12 String Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar (MIJ) (w/ HSC)

Made in the 1960s by Kasuga Instrument Co., the Silver Mellow Tone is a 12 string acoustic guitar produced entirely in-house by the guitar manufacturer and features a laminated spruce top with a mahogany back, sides and neck. This acoustic oozes 60s Japanese character and attention to detail, Featuring an intricately designed pickguard, multiple layers of binding on both the front and back of the body, and a decorative logo on the headstock, this Silver Mellow Tone boasts a 12th fret neck joint for a more compact size compared to traditional 12 string guitars. This results in very interesting tonality, with the guitar producing brilliant, shimmering tones with plenty of top end sparkle. 

Featuring a relatively short 24.75" scale length neck, it sports a beefy nut width of 49mm and a rosewood fingerboard with a 10" radius. The carve of the neck is shallow but broad and feels fantastic in the hands all the way up and down the neck. Smooth and extremely playable, this is a hard guitar to put down once it has been picked up! Featuring its original nickel silver frets (with a 0 fret) that have been levelled, crowned and polished, the guitar is playing nicely with absolutely no dead spots or buzzing, and 100% life on the freshly levelled frets. The large and nicely carved headstock sports open gear machine heads for good tuning stability and the original "Mellow Tone" and decorative waterslides intact. 

Freshly serviced and setup with Dunlop 10-47s, the guitar has a very comfortable action up and down the neck with a functional truss rod. The guitar has suffered a heel crack at some stage in its life, however was professionally glued long ago and is very stable. Aside from this, the guitar has no structural issues but a fair share of wear for it's 50+ year vintage. All things considered, the guitar is in very good condition for its age and has stacks of vibe and mojo. Comes with a very well worn hard shell case!
