1970s Hondo HMM S Melody Maker 3 Tone Sunburst (MIJ)

Made in the late 1970s by Hondo at the Matsumoku factory in Japan, this Hondo HMM S is an excellent offering from late 70s Matsumoku manufacturing and is most obviously inspired by the Gibson Melody Maker, specifically from the era of 1961-1964. Hondo made many copies of more expensive model guitars and basses in the late 70s and early 80s, importing it into the USA by IMC (International Music Corporation) based in Fort Worth, Texas. The HMM S has a laminated maple body in a vibrant 3 tone sunburst with a nato mahogany neck, a 24" scale length on a light rosewood fingerboard.

This bad boy has been modified quite a bit over the years and is a bit of a mutt, however if you like a no-nonsense modded rock machine, this is the guitar for you! An original 80s Super Distortion has been installed in the bridge position, it's got a set of genuine USA Grovers installed, as well as a brand new 50s wiring harness, new knobs, new jack socket, and a new wraparound bridge! As well as all of this, it's just had a professional fret level, crown and polish and has a slinky low action with no dead spots.

A true rock weapon that's been guaranteed to perform for many years to come with all the fresh parts it's had installed, it has been professionally setup with 10-46s and is ready to shred!

How much is shipping?

We offer free Australia-wide shipping for orders over $200 via standard courier services. For smaller items such as small parts and screws, we send via Australia Post regular mail service. All items below $200 incur a flat $8.99 shipping charge. Express services are also available at an extra cost, just select it at the checkout and we'll get your order out extra fast!

How long does shipping take?

It varies based on the destination and the products ordered. Orders for items that are in stock with our Lewisham store "135 New Canterbury Road, Lewisham 2049", are usually shipped same day, however items ordered from "Deep Tone Warehouse Supply" are special order items that are not stocked in the store. These items can take 2-4 business days to arrive to us from the supplier; from there, the item will be dispatched from our store and the nominated method of shipping will be followed:

For "Standard" shipping:
  • VIC, SA and NSW: 2-4 days
  • QLD: 3-5 days
  • NT, WA and TAS: 5-10 days +
For "Express" shipping:
  • VIC, SA and NSW: 1-2 days
  • QLD: 1-2 days
  • NT, WA and TAS: 1-3 days
