1970s Roland AP-5 Phase Five (Factory 240V Export Model)

One of Roland's earliest iterations of phase shifters, the Phase Five is a legendary 70s effects pedal with a host of intuitive controls, incredible sound and depth and rock solid 70s build quality.

Equipped with fast/slow parameters for precise speed controls, the Phase Five is capable of everything from Leslie-style organ tones to other-wordly high speed oscillations, and everything inbetween. It also features a highly intuitive C.C/T.C control, which allows for dynamic responses to signal input, allowing for truly epic phasing tones!

Fully overhauled and serviced by Lachlan at Earthling Designs in Marrickville (an incredible technician in Sydney and highly reputable pedal builder), it's had a full power section recap as well as a full component service and revamp to original specs. This bad boy is also 240V input so no need for a step-down transformer! In great used condition with some scuffs and chips on the chassis, it's rock solid and ready for many decades of use. Controls explained below!

Touch Control

  • Sensitivity: controls the sensitivity of the effect to the input signal

Continuous Control

  • Intensity: controls the depth/amplitude of the modulation (the size of the range in which the effect sweeps).
  • Slow Rate: controls the speed/rate of the LFO wave that controls the effect
  • Fast Rate: controls the speed/rate of the LFO wave that controls the effect

Footswitches

  • Slow/Fast: switches between the modulation speeds set by the Slow Rate and Fast Rate knobs
  • C.C/T.C: switches between Continuous Control mode (C.C.) and Touch Control mode (T.C). In Continuous Control mode the phaser is controlled by an LFO, in Touch Control mode the phaser responds to the input signal
