1979 Greco "Limited Edition" Les Paul Standard (MIJ Fujigen)
A precursor to Greco's famed "Super Real" series and made only briefly for a few months in the year of 1979, Greco's "Limited Edition" Les Paul is an elusive and highly rare model with very little documented information available. A non-catalog model for 1979, this Greco Les Paul bares a strong similarity in both specification and aesthetics to the "Super Real" series released only months after, capturing the essence, feel and sound of late 1950s Les Pauls. Featuring a 2 piece highly flamed maple cap on a mahogany body, mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard, this highly collectable piece is the pinnacle of late 70s Japanese guitar making.
The 3 piece mahogany neck has been expertly carved to the perfect slim taper profile with heavily rolled fingerboard edges that invite the player to wrap their hands around this beautifully crafted piece of wood. The beautifully grained rosewood fingerboard has 22 medium frets that are in excellent condition with no pitting or divots. Fret life is excellent as this guitar presents virtually unplayed with approximately 95% life left.
Sporting a set of Maxon PU-2 humbuckers, these pickups run a little hotter than typical Maxons of the era peaking at a little over 8kOhms each, making them an excellent choice for those seeking a high gain rock tone. With a particular emphasis on the treble frequencies, if you like bright humbuckers this guitar will suit well.
Professionally serviced and setup with 10-46s, the guitar plays very smoothly with a nice low action and accurate intonation. Condition wise, you'd be hard pressed to find a better condition Greco from the late 70s. With only a single chip in the finish in the cutaway, the guitar presents in near-mint condition with virtually no wear and no structural issues, cracks or breaks. Comes with a 70s leather gig bag!
