A machine that requires absolutely no introduction, the Linn Eletronics LinnDrum was the successor to the LM-1, the world's first sample-based electronic drum machine. It was also the first drum machine with a practical system of real time recording, introducing the new ideas of Timing Correct (quantize) and Swing. Released in 1982, the LinnDrum built on the success and innovation of the LM-1 by adding crash and ride cymbals, greater sample lengths, changeable sounds (by opening the lid and changing sound chips in sockets!) and five live drum trigger inputs. 

With only 5000 made produced in just 3 years, the rarity and mistique of the LinnDrum is rivalled by few drum machines, with many having tried and failed at recreating the magic that resides within the little black box that is the LinnDrum. There is simply nothing that compares to the sound and rhythm of the original, and as they reach legendary status, are only becoming more rare and unobtainable. Used by the likes of Sting, Prince, Jean, Peter Gabriel and Michael Jackson to name a few, if you've listened to a song from the 1980s, there's a strong chance you've been graced by the thick, warm goodness of the mighty LinnDrum.

This particular LinnDrum is in very good shape for its age. It has recieved a professional service and restoration, including a replacement of the entire power section with Synthtronics engineered board for smooth, quiet and trouble free operation, as well as variable input voltage 85V to 265V AC, for use all over the world. As well as this, all pots, sliders and buttons have been cleaned and tested to ensure longevity and functionality. It also has retrofitted MIDI capability thanks to JLCooper Electronics MIDI board and ports, expanding the Linn's capabilities. Included in the sale is the original instruction manual, as well as the MIDI information and further credentials.
