1982 Greco Japan FV-600 Flying V Black (w/ OHSC) (MIJ Fujigen)
A legendary model in the Greco lineup, the Greco FV-600 is a fine example of early ’80s Japanese craftsmanship, built at the famed Fujigen factory in 1982. Modelled closely after the iconic Flying V design, this guitar embodies the golden age of Greco’s lawsuit-era instruments where attention to detail and quality tonewoods were the standard. With a solid mahogany body finished in sleek gloss black, this V has both the presence and the tone to back up its looks. At just 2.9kg, it’s lightweight and extremely comfortable, making it a stage-friendly option for players after vintage vibe with effortless playability.
The neck is constructed from mahogany with a rosewood fingerboard and classic pearloid dot inlays. It features a 24.75" short scale length, a comfortable medium D profile that feels very close to a Gibson slim taper, and a 9.5" radius that strikes a balance between vintage feel and modern playability. Fret life is solid here with very little playwear considering the age of the instrument with approximately 85% life left. At some point the upper fretboard has been lightly scalloped to allow for extra shred, however it is subtle and tastefully done. The gloss black finish continues across the neck for a cohesive, striking aesthetic that matches the body perfectly.
Electronics-wise, this FV-600 comes fitted with its original Maxon humbucker in the bridge position, delivering that classic Japanese hot-voiced punch, paired with a Roswell replacement in the neck for added warmth and clarity. The combination of new and old gives you a versatile spread of tones and can tackle anything from smooth cleans to gritty overdrive. Together, they offer an articulate, balanced sound that works well across rock, metal, and blues settings. All electronics aside from the replaced neck pickup are original and in great working order.
In great working order for its age with plenty of vibey wear in all the right places, this FV-600 has been fully serviced top to bottom and offers excellent playability, thick tone and rock solid Japanese design and engineering. It's sporting a set of 10-46s and plays like butter. Comes with its original green plush hard case!
