Offered exclusively for model year 1985, the Ibanez Roadstar II RS420 is an epic mid-80s Super Strat offering up some excellent features including the mighty Pro Rock'r locking tremolo system with locking nut, V Wing strap buttons and Smooth Tuner II machine heads for smooth and stable tuning. This particular RS420 is finished in the rare "Soft Blue" finish which has yellowed out to more of a sea foam green tone, giving it a very unique look. Fitted with aftermarket EMGs, this one is an absolute pocket rocket when cranked!

Featuring a bolt-on maple neck with a 12" radius and a nicely grained and very dark rosewood fingerboard, the back of the neck is finished in a semi-gloss finish to keep playability nice and fast and the original 22 medium frets are in great shape showing only minimal wear with approximately 85% life left. The neck is on the slimmer side making it perfect for fast runs and easy chords.

Originally equipped with a set of Ibanez IBZ (H) humbuckers, the original pickup set has been swapped out in favour of a set of EMG-89s which offer an extremely diverse dynamic range. Featuring two pickups in one, the 89 houses separate preamps and coils for a custom humbucker and single coil sound at your fingertips. Loaded with Alnico V magnets, the humbucker sound is rich, warm and powerful, but still clear and articulate, similar to the EMG-85. The single coil mode, accessed via the installed push pull pots, delivers the traditional Strat single coil sound: bright, airy, and chimey, and is very similar to the EMG-SA. In either mode, the clean sound is gorgeously pristine and has a lot of presence. Whether you are playing hard rock or jazz, you can get it all with these beautifully balanced and versatile pickups.

Professionally serviced and setup with 10-46s and the Pro Rock'r tremolo calibrated perfectly for standard tuning, this Roadstar II is ready to shred out of the case with a smooth, low action, a straight neck and perfect intonation. Condition wise, the guitar has had the aforementioned pickup modification which includes an added tone knob and 2 extra holes drilled in the pickup rings to accommodate the EMGs; aside from this, the guitar is all original and in excellent shape. A few small dings here and there but all is honest wear and the guitar is free from any structural issues. Comes with a non-original 80s fitted case!
