1990s Ibanez RG-550 White w/ Floyd Rose (MIJ)
One for the shredders! And oh boy, it's a good one. Originally launched in 1987, the RG Series from Ibanez was designed in collaboration with Steve Vai and has a lot of dimensional and design similarities to his signature JEM777 series. This particular one is from 1991 and was made in the famed Fujigen factory in Japan. Not a reissue, this is the real deal and is 100% original and in really great condition! These 90s Japanese shred machines are absolutely bullet-proof and every element is built to withstand the hardest of shredding and trem use. Licensed Floyd Rose system, HSH power and a super fast, super slim D shape neck with a buttery fast action.
This guitar likely started off life in a much brighter shade of white, however it's yellowed out to a perfect desert sand hue likely from playing many sweaty Japanese venues throughout the 90s. It's perfectly aged and has a beatiful contrast with the dark rosewood board. Frets have loads of life left in them with some light pitting vissible, Floyd tremolo feels tight and stays in tune perfectly. We completely disassembled, cleaned and restored every element of this guitar, followed by a comprehensive setup with 10-46 strings. This thing plays and sounds like it just came off the factory line with exceptional playability and shred-tastic tone.
