1996 Ibanez TC620 Talman Black Pearl Electric Guitar (MIJ)
Made in Japan by Hoshino Gakki and sold in European and USA markets, the Ibanez Talman was first released in 1994 and designed to be reminiscent of the Fender Telecaster. Quirky and retro in design, the initial Japanese Talman run was short lived making these guitars hard to come across. This particular iteration is a 1996 TC620 model finished in a beautifully deep black pearl. Made from lightweight ash and featuring original Kent Armstrong designed pickups, this is a super cool and unique piece from the mid-1990s.
The neck is a full 25.5" scale length with a nice slim D profile carved into the one-piece maple neck. The rosewood fingerboard sports a 12" radius, pearloid dot inlays and 22 medium sized frets. No significant wear here with minor pitting and approximately 85% life left. The neck has that typical slim Japanese carve from the late 80s and 90s and is great for fast and articulate runs up and down the neck.
The beating heart of the TC620 is the dual set of Kent Armstrong designed Sky H-100 pickups that pack a serious punch. Reading over 17kOhms a pop, these are some of the hottest P90s you could ask for. Searing rock leads and crunchy chords are conjured with ease thanks to these excellent pickups making it an excellent rock and metal machine. They clean up nicely too and offer some great single coil sparkle when played at low gain levels.
In excellent condition for its age, this TC620 is all original aside from a missing tremolo arm. A few small dings and dents and some light swirling and playwear is the worst of it on this very well looked after guitar. Professionally setup with 10-46s with a nice low action, the neck is straight and intonation is spot on.
