2000 Teisco SP-62 MO Spectrum Bizarre Electric Guitar
Looking for a quirky Teisco Spectrum but don't want to part with one of your kidneys? Enter the SP-62, Kawai Japan's not-so-reissue reissue of the fabled Spectrum 5. We say not-so because it's not strictly a reissue, despite being Japanese made and under the Teisco branding. In the 90s, Kawai (Teisco's parent company) decided to create a tribute to the Spectrum with the SP-62; it's essentially a Spectrum 5 but without the middle pickup, 3 switches instead of 5 and a few other subtle design alterations.
That covers the backstory, now onto the guitar. These are extremely rare and incredibly good guitars made to the highest Japanese standard of craftsmanship. This one wears the even rarer deep sparkle orange finish which smacks you right in the face at any angle and just looks so damn good. Deep German carve mahogany body, historically accurate styling and awesome square-pole split coil pickups to top it all off. Oh and some cute switches. Did we mention the condition? Factory fresh. Virtually unplayed!
This guitar has been fully set up and serviced with 1046s. The neck is nice and straight, all switches and pots work flawlessly and without noise. The tremolo is light and Mac DeMarco-esque in the best way possible. Comes with a heavy duty fitted gig bag.
