Built by one of Japan’s most revered guitar manufacturers, this 2012 Fujigen Masterfield MSA-HP is a superb example of modern Japanese craftsmanship meeting timeless semi-hollow design. Finished in a classy gloss black, its understated appearance is complemented by refined construction and exceptional attention to detail throughout. The laminated maple top and back are paired with mahogany sides, producing a naturally resonant tonal foundation with impressive warmth, clarity and sustain. Weighing just 3.0kg, it feels lively and responsive in hand while remaining comfortable for extended playing sessions.

The African mahogany neck features a 24.75" scale length and a slim 60s C profile, striking an excellent balance between comfort and speed. Finished in gloss polyurethane, it offers a slick yet substantial feel, while the rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays provides a classic visual touch. A 12" radius and 42.5mm bone nut contribute to an easy-playing platform suited to both intricate chord voicings and fluid lead work. Equipped with 22 medium nickel silver frets and Fujigen’s renowned Circle Fretting System (CFS), the guitar offers excellent intonation and impressive note definition across the entire fretboard. Fret life remains excellent at approximately 95% with only light signs of use.

A pair of original FGN Alnico III humbuckers deliver a smooth, expressive tonal character with plenty of nuance and dynamic sensitivity. Reading 7.8kOhm in the neck and 7.6kOhm in the bridge, the pickups offer balanced output with warm low end, rich mids and articulate highs. Clean settings reveal a beautifully open voice with natural semi-hollow bloom, while overdriven tones retain clarity and focus with sweet sustain and strong harmonic content. The result is a highly versatile sound that transitions effortlessly from mellow jazz and blues to punchy classic rock tones.

Freshly serviced and setup with 10–46 strings, this Masterfield plays effortlessly with low action and precise intonation. Cosmetic condition is very good overall, with a handful of light dings and minor wear consistent with regular but careful use over its 14-year lifespan. All original with no modifications, this is a beautifully built semi-hollow that delivers premium feel, versatile tones and the unmistakable quality Fujigen is known for.
