The Fender Contemporary Stratocaster Deluxe is a quintessential "Superstrat" from the mid-1980s, built to cater to the high-performance demands of rock and metal guitarists of the time. This particular model is from 1985 and is a very tidy and unmolested example, featuring its original soapbar, body mounted humbuckers, TBX circuit and System III tremolo with height adjustable cam arm actuated string locking nut. Phew!

The 25.5" medium D maple neck is on the slender side, a characteristic typical of this era of Superstrats. Living up to its Contemporary namesake, this neck feels very modern and sharp with excellent playability. The overly complicated locking nut actually performs its function quite well and offers excellent stability when locked, as well as being height adjustable to really dial in the feel. Fret life is solid at around 85% with only minor signs of wear present.

Listed merely as "HH" in Fender's catalog, unfortunately it is hard to pin down exactly what these humbuckers are, although they do offer up some seriously thick tones, with the bridge pickup in particular reading an extremely high output. This guitar performs very well in the genres of hard rock and metal where high levels of distortion are on tap. A coil split adds versatility, as well as Fender's classic TBX circuit offering a wonderful mid-boosted characteristic at the turn of a knob.

In well worn condition, this guitar has certainly been played and well loved. It has its fair share of dings, dents and scratches, as well as heavily swirling in some areas of the clear coat and on the pickguard. Wear and tear aside, the guitar is unmodified and totally original and has been professionally setup with 10-46s. It's playing smooth as silk and has plenty more to give. As an added bonus, this guitar comes with its original brown Fender stamped gig bag and user manual for this particular model (you're going to need it)!
