Made in the famed Matsumoku factory in 1980, this is a wonderfully well kept example of the TS-500, a completely overkill Superstrat style guitar outfitted with a 9V active boost circuit, 24 frets and more switching options than you can poke a stick at. Multi-laminate construction featuring an ash/walnut/maple/walnut/ash body and a 3 piece maple neck with a rosewood fretboard. Loaded with a set of Extra III zebra humbuckers paired with the active circuitry, this one really packs a punch.

The 25.5" medium C neck is on the larger side with nice heft to it without feeling too chunky and is finished in a high gloss urethane, whilst 24 medium jumbo frets on the rosewood fingerboard offer unparalleled access to the high frets. Fret wear is mild with approximately 85% fret life left, having been recently dressed with no pitting or dents visible. Bone nut appears to be aftermarket and original stamped vintage tuners addorn the headstock.

The Extra III humbuckers offer PAF-like qualities, sitting in the high 7-8kOhm range offering plenty of full body with beefy low end and nicely balanced high frequencies. The real star of the show is the totally overkill preamp/boost section which pushes this guitar into unreal fuzz territory with the flick of a switch. Plenty of controls to keep you messing around for hours, including phase switching, coil splitting and a rotary tone control.

In virtually exceptional and virtually all original condition aside from the replaced nut, this guitar has been professionally setup with 10-46s and plays like butter with a straight neck and perfect intonation. Free from any chips or deep scratches, the guitar does have some light buckle rash and swirling on the finish, however these marks are only skin deep. The finish is vibrant and the hardware is free from any rust or corrosion. Comes with a gig bag!
