Inspired by the chic and sleek style of the modern jazz era, the Modern Black boasts unique and bold design with a blend of elegance and composure. Its body shape is a complete redesign of the conventional grand concert shape with modified curves that suits the overall styling, while maintaining superb resonance and sound quality, and the dual sound ports ensure that the sound is audible to both the player and the audience. The addition of the world-renowned Fishmanยฎ Matrix Infinity pickup / preamp system provides a clear and transparent tone when plugged in.
Master Grade Solid European Spruce Top with Solid Mahogany Back & Sides
With bell-like clarity over a broad sonic spectrum, the solid European spruce topโs transparent character is ideal for both sensitive fingerstyle playing and relaxed strumming techniques. The richness of ethereal overtones is the defining essence of this premium sought-after wood featured on this model. Bright yet natural with a strong and warm midrange, the beloved mahogany wood has been a standard for back and sides on premium acoustics for many decades.
Modern Concert Body Shape
Inspired by the popular grand concert body shape, the newly designed Modern Concert body shape is Cortโs own rethinking of the smaller acoustic body type that was carefully designed for enhanced resonance and responsiveness. Together with a softer venetian cutaway, the Modern Concert shape also boasts playing comfort.
Dual Side Sound Ports
Instead of a conventional sound hole in the center of the body, the specifically placed dual sound ports on the sides affect the Helmholtz properties of the body and enhance the dynamics and the treble of the acoustic tone. It also allows the player to better monitor the natural sound of the guitar during performance while enabling the audience to hear the guitar as well. Meanwhile, since the top wood is free of sound holes, it is more resilient and resonant.
Bevel Cut Armrest
To enhance comfort and playability, custom bevel cuts for the arm rest and rib rest were implemented. Not only do these cuts provide ergonomic functionality, they provide a unique high-end look not often found on high-end acoustic guitars.
Fishmanยฎ Matrix Infinity
Tweaked to perform even better with modern acoustic guitar amplifiers, the Matrix Infinity VT pickup and preamp system is the latest evolution of Fishmanโs flagship Matrix Series. Clear, transparent Fishman-Quality tone and dynamic string response have been combined with numerous new design features and performance enhancements such as soundhole-mounted Volume and Tone control module and easily accessible preamp voicing switch that can accommodate different types of amplification choices, playing styles and performance situations.
Ebony Bridge & Pins
The high density of ebony keeps the fundamental acoustic sound focused and tight with greater sonic projection than plastic, enhancing the transfer of the string vibrations throughout the soundboard top, body and the neck.
Hand-Rolled Fret Edge Treatment
The shaping and treatment of a guitarโs frets have a big impact on comfort and performance. Most guitar makers simply bevel the frets at each end to eliminate the sharp edges. Boutique acoustic builders, however, use a method to dress their frets to make them round, smooth, and ultra-comfortable to touch and play. This process is highly complex and time-consuming and requires the skilled workmanship of experienced craftsmen.
Ergo-A Asymmetric Neck Profile
A completely redesigned asymmetric neck profile is designed for Modern Black, giving experienced players and enthusiasts alike a comfortable ergonomic playing experience that is optimized for various playing styles.
New Neck Scale & Nut Width
Modern Black features a 25.5โ(648ใ) neck scale with 1 3/4โ(44.5ใ) nut width widely regarded as the โgolden standardโ among fingerstyle players for its optimal string spacing and string tension.
Walnut Reinforced Neck
Using two special inserts made of more rigid walnut, the neck on the Modern Black has been reinforced for added rigidity and stability to withstand various types of fingerstyle playing.
Gotohยฎ 510Z Gold Tuner
Featuring an extremely precise 21:1 tuning ratio, these tuners feel solid and ultra-smooth at the same time. The elegant and streamlined knobs also reduce fatigue during the tuning process. You will feel the quality of these tuners the moment you start tuning the guitar.
Graph Techยฎ Black TUSQ Nut
Preferred by many guitar makers and players for rich tone and sustain, the TUSQยฎ is an advanced polymer that's formed under high heat and pressure for uniform density. It's designed to transfer string energy more efficiently, and to make guitars come alive with enhanced harmonics, volume and sustain.
