Early 1970s Greco EB-350 SG Bass (Gibson EB-3 Style) (33.5" Scale) (MIJ)
The Greco EB-350 from the early 1970s is a fantastic example of Japan’s golden-era craftsmanship, capturing the look, feel, and tone of the classic Gibson EB-style basses at a fraction of the price. Built in Greco's Matsumoku factory, this model features the iconic double-cut SG body shape and a rich cherry finish that has aged gracefully over time. The lightweight mahogany body offers excellent resonance and a warm, punchy low-end, making it a great choice for players chasing vintage character with effortless playability.
The bolt-on mahogany neck features a comfortable slim C-shaped profile with a smooth, worn-in feel that only decades of use can provide. Its short-scale length of 33.5" makes it incredibly easy to play, with reduced string tension that suits both beginners and experienced players alike. The rosewood fingerboard is in great condition with plenty of life left in the frets, offering smooth navigation across all 20 frets. The nut width sits around the typical 40mm range, providing a familiar and comfortable spacing, while the original tuners continue to hold tuning stability well.
Electronics are simple but effective, featuring a single mudbucker-style humbucker in the neck position and a mini humbucker in the bridge, controlled via volume and tone knobs. This setup delivers the thick, warm, and slightly woolly tone these basses are known for, with plenty of low-end presence and a nice growl when pushed. Go straight bridge and you get plenty of mid-range bite. All electronics are functioning as they should, providing reliable performance and that unmistakable vintage voice.
In great condition for its age, this EB-350 shows some honest cosmetic wear including small dings, scratches, and natural patina, all of which add to its vintage appeal without affecting playability. It has received a full professional setup and plays smoothly up and down the neck, with a comfortable low action and solid intonation. A very cool vintage bass with loads of character, perfect for players or collectors looking for an affordable entry into classic SG-style bass territory.
