Early 1970s Greco EG-420B Les Paul Custom Black Beauty (w/ Embossed Humbuckers) (MIJ Matsumoku)
The Greco EG-420 was Greco's second Les Paul iteration and successor to the widely popular EG-360 series. Developed by Hidesato Shiino and touring guitarist Shigeru Narumo, the EG series went on to become a set-neck, solid cap design which rivalled and surpassed Gibson quality for many years. The early models such as the 360 and 420 feature semi-hollow maple laminate tops and 6 piece mahogany bodies, as well as a bolt-on neck design. These early quirky design features are give these guitars a very unique look and feel.
This particular EG-420B is factory finished to imitate a Black Beauty, making it rarer than the standard EG-420. It features all gold hardware, factory embossed "Gneco" U-1000 pickups and multi-ply binding all round. This bad boy is all original aside from a new Switchcraft jack socket and is a total weapon. Professionally serviced and setup with 10-46s, this will make a great addition to your Greco collection, or a great stage guitar! No cracks, breaks or structual issues, it also has a factory volute for added structural integrity on the neck. Plays like a dream, sounds incredible.
