A beautifully crafted example from one of Japan’s most respected factories, this 2010 Fujigen Masterfield P90 showcases the exceptional fit, finish and attention to detail that has made the Fujigen factory legendary among players and collectors alike. Finished in a rich antique sunburst, the semi-hollow construction pairs a laminated maple top and back with mahogany sides, delivering a lively and resonant acoustic character with excellent warmth and articulation. Elegant yet understated, the Masterfield balances traditional jazz-inspired aesthetics with modern playability, resulting in a highly versatile instrument equally suited to clean, expressive playing and driven tones. Weighing 3.2kg, it feels substantial without being cumbersome, offering excellent comfort both seated and standing.

The neck features a comfortable 24.75" scale length with a slim 60s C profile that feels fast and familiar in the hand. Constructed from African mahogany and finished in gloss polyurethane, it provides a smooth playing surface while maintaining excellent stability. The rosewood fingerboard is adorned with pearloid dot inlays and features a 12" radius alongside a 42.5mm bone nut, creating a balanced feel that accommodates both chord work and lead playing with ease. Fujigen’s renowned Circle Fretting System (CFS) is paired with 22 medium nickel silver frets, improving intonation and note definition across the fretboard while delivering the precise feel the brand is known for. Fret life is solid here at about 85% with only minor wear visible.

Electronics are handled by a replaced set of Kent Armstrong P90 pickups, giving this Masterfield a notably powerful and character-rich voice. The pickups are of a high resistance, offering substantial output, thick mid-range and impressive harmonic content. Clean tones are warm, woody and articulate, with the semi-hollow construction adding natural air and resonance to every note. Under gain, the pickups come alive with punchy attack, rich sustain and the raw edge that makes P90-equipped guitars so inspiring to play, bridging the gap between single-coil clarity and humbucker-like fullness. Original P90s are in perfect working order and included in the sale.

Professionally serviced and setup with 10-46s, this Fujigen Mastefield lives up to its name in terms of quality, playability and sound with a smooth, low action and bang-on intonation. Sporting a few light dings and dents from its 16-year lifespan, overall the instrument presents incredibly well and is ready for many more decades of playing. Notably the bridge has been replaced with a Duesenberg tremolo system for added versatility, however the original stop-tail is included in the sale. It is also equipped with high quality Gotoh locking machine heads. Comes with a heavy duty gig bag!
