This Fender Player Mustang Bass P/J from 2020 is a modern take on one of Fender’s most iconic short-scale designs, combining classic Mustang styling with the versatility of a P/J pickup configuration. Built in Mexico as part of the Player Series, this model delivers the familiar Fender feel with contemporary refinements, making it equally suited to stage, studio, or home use. The bolt-on maple neck features a comfortable Modern C shaped profile with a smooth satin finish, offering fast and effortless playability. With its short 30" scale length, the instrument has a slightly looser string tension that makes it easy on the hands without sacrificing punch. The maple fingerboard features a 9.5" radius and 19 medium jumbo frets, providing a familiar Fender feel with plenty of life left in the frets for years of playing. A synthetic bone nut (38mm) ensures stable tuning and consistent spacing, while vintage-style tuners hold tune reliably. 

Electronics are where this model really shines, featuring a P/J configuration with a split-coil Precision pickup in the neck position and a single-coil Jazz Bass pickup at the bridge. Controlled via master volume, master tone, and a 3-way selector switch, this setup offers a wide tonal palette ranging from deep, thumpy lows to articulate, punchy mids and brighter, more defined bridge tones.
